Suzanne Garon
Suzanne Garon is professor emeritus at the School of Social Work at the University of Sherbrooke (Canada). As a sociologist, she was the principal investigator (2008-2021) of the Quebec research team (Équipe MADA-Québec) which examined the implementation and conducted various evaluations of the WHO AFCC program in Quebec. In particular, she conducts extensive field research documenting innovative aspects in more than 1,000 cities and municipalities of the AFCC of Quebec. Professor Garon was the founder and director (2017-2021) of a World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Center on Age-Friendly Environments. She is also a board member of the International Federation on Aging (IFA/IVF), which is an important partner of the Decade of Healthy Aging. She is still involved in numerous knowledge transfer activities for Équipe-MADA Québec and with the WHO and is active in the doctoral program in gerontology at the University of Sherbrooke.
